My yoga journey began in 2007, really by accident.  At that time, I was conditioning myself to run half marathons. One day, after a run, I happened to stumble upon a fitness channel showing a yoga practice.  My muscles were tight, so I followed along.  What started out being simply a stretching session for my tight hamstrings, turned into a slow obsession.  I noticed how well I began to breathe during my runs so I practiced yoga more and more. In 2008, I embarked on a certification program with YogaFit, and taught some classes for around a year.  In the years that followed, I strayed off of the yoga path. In 2013, I connected with Shakti Redding. I took her 200HR Teacher Training Program with Inner Power Yoga and realized just how much yoga offered me. In 2014, I graduated with my 200Hr certification and began teaching regular classes at The Studio by Bike & Soul.  Yoga means so much more to me now than it did back in 2007.  Back then, it was something that stretched sore muscles. Today, it is the vehicle that calms me, that shows me what is possible.  The word yoga to me means balance.  I love the way I feel after I practice, and I want to bring that feeling to others.  It’s really hard to put that feeling into words.  You just have to experience it!

I truly believe that yoga has transformed my life.  I want to keep offering this practice to the Angola community well into the future.  I grew up in this community and raised my children here.  This is my life, and I love it with every passing moment.  Because yoga to me means ‘balance,’ I named the studio BeBalanced Yoga & Wellness.  After all, that is what we all strive for right?  To balance self care with work needs and family needs.  My intention as a studio owner and yoga instructor is to offer creative yoga sequences paired with mindfulness as my students move their bodies.  I simply want to show them it is ok to feel, it's ok to allow those feelings to come to the surface so that they can really see and love their own true nature.  It’s in that space where we find our ‘Balance’.

I look forward to seeing you in class soon!

Yoga found me. Five years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. When the doctor told me the news, I fell apart. I had no symptoms and no family history. During the next six months of treatment, I found out that my cancer center offered free yoga to patients battling cancer. It was in those yoga sessions, that I found peace and calmness. It was the only place that was anxiety-free. The more I practiced the better that I felt. After my treatments, I found a great studio by my home, that I had never noticed before, and began to practice like crazy. I fell in love with the way it made me feel - strong, empowered and free of worry. I feel like yoga saved my life and gave me something that had been missing in my life. As my body recovered from chemo treatments, yoga just made me stronger. That was when I decided to get certified to share my love with yoga with others. I have been teaching yoga for 2.5 years, and got my teacher's training at Toledo Yoga. I love seeing our students get stronger and fall in love with the practice of yoga like I did. I like sharing my love of yoga and inspiring others to try - even when it feels too hard or impossible.

Peace and Stillness those were the attitudes that drew me to Yoga. I recognized the hurried pace of life in the community that I grew up in and was looking for a way to give back and help others find both Peace and Stillness.

My Yoga journey started many years ago just like most people, watching videos going to local gyms or practicing at a friend’s house.  In 2015 when we opened Bike and Soul my goal was to provide a safe, welcoming, and affordable opportunity for our community to experience the Peace and Stillness that I found in my practice.

I live here in Angola with my husband Joe and our dog Spoke.  We have 5 awesome children who are all married and 4 incredible grandchildren.

I am always reminded that knowing comes from being still.

From My Heart to Yours,

Libby

Lyndsay had done a few home yoga videos through the years but it wasn’t until 2015 that she took her very first in person yoga class.  She fell in love and never looked back.  Through her practice, Lyndsay was able to find freedom in many areas of her life and uses her time on her mat to disconnect from her very active “monkey mind”.   This love of the practice led Lyndsay to obtaining her 200 hr certification through Inner Power Yoga in 2016.  She has been teaching locally in Angola for the past 5 years.

Lyndsay believes that everyone can benefit from yoga no matter what their skill level.  Even something as simple as quieting the mind and connecting with the breath can be life changing for many people.

Lyndsay lives with her husband, two kids, a dog and a rabbit.  She loves reading, music, dancing and hiking through the mountains.
